Before I got pregnant I had this idea that maternity clothes were going to be the best thing ever. Seriously, I was SO excited. A whole new wardrobe to show off a cute bump! But then those two sweet lines appeared and slowly but surely my body started changing. Now, don't get me wrong I LOVE my pregnant body. Watching as my stomach rounds and begins to pop out to accommodate this baby boy is seriously so cool. My clothes on the other hand? They're not too sure what to think. ;)
It's a little bit hilarious, putting on pre pregnancy shirts and seeing the way they do their best to fit over this bump. Suddenly 90% of my wardrobe is unusable, and unlike I had thought, buying clothes while pregnant isn't actually as fun as you think it is. Firstly the price tag of maternity clothes is shocking! I mean I'm all for spending money on good quality clothes but clothes that you're only going to wear 6 months? Then there's the fact that there just aren't that many totally adorable options when it comes to maternity. Sure, every now and then you find something you absolutely love but most of the time I find myself looking longingly into the normal woman's section. I've since taken it upon myself to find normal tops (let's face it, pants have to be maternity) that accommodate this bump while staying within a reasonable budget.
I went along for the ride with a good friend last week to Target, which lucky for me happened to be right next to an Old Navy. Now I have a sort of love hate relationship with Old Navy. Sometimes I go and love nothing, other times I go and love everything. Thankfully this time it was the latter and I started browsing to find things that at least appeared to be bump accommodating. Now you've already seen this outfit in this post so I apologize for the repeat, but it's one of my favorite outfits as of late!
I appreciate that this shirt is a little tunic like so right now it shows off my little bump appealing to my pregnant self, but it'll be loose and flowy when this bump is gone which appeals to my postpartum self. It was also only $27 and 30% off which makes my wallet happy. I've also found non maternity tanks are really easy to fit into, I just buy them a size up and they're perfect. This wasn't my only Old Navy find, I'll save that one for another day. Did I mention that when people compliment you on your top you get to tell them they can buy it too? What could be more fun!
