Overnight Oats!

So, my mornings look like this ^^^^ David running around, Eden needing something to chew on because teeth, and, not pictured, a crazy puppy. Everything needs to happen at once and because of that, it is the absolute most chaotic part of my day. Once everyone is fed, entertained, let out, the last thing I feel like doing is making myself breakfast. Really all I feel like doing by that point is sitting down ;) Truthfully, I skip breakfast more often than I don't. Of course then I end up hangry and that's no fun for anyone! I was up pinterest-ing easy breakfast ideas when I came across a recipe for overnight oats!

The pictures were so pretty. The oats were piled high with perfectly sliced strawberries, bananas, and a perfect little scoop of peanut butter. My mind was like, nope, not happening. I skimmed a few and they all had fancy little toppings and ingredients which I just don't have time for/care about. Give me the easiest most basic thing ever and as long as it doesn't taste like dirt, we're good. Anyways, after lots of browsing, I took the basic pieces and decided to try it. Now it's my most favorite easy breakfast! It takes me maybe 3 minutes to do the night before and in the morning all I have to do is take it out of the fridge and eat it! It keeps me full for hours and it's actually surprisingly yummy.

Without further ado, the most simple overnight oats recipe. Warning: these pictures aren't as pretty ;) We're going for basic here!

You'll need:
1 cup of old fashioned oats (I bought the cheap container from Target, nothing fancy here)
1 cup of Almond milk
Chia Seeds
Maple syrup
A container of some sort (I use wide mouth pint sized mason jars)

Ready for these crazy hard directions?

1. Take your measuring cup, fill it with oats, and pour it into your container. I use a half cup so I do this twice but if you're using a full cup, just do it once!
2. Add your chia seeds. Truthfully I don't measure these. I just pour some in and call it good. If I had to guess, I'd say a tablespoon. But I totally just eyeball it! I like to live on the wild side, clearly.
3. Add some maple syrup. Again, I eyeball. I don't like mine too sweet so I don't pour a ton. If you like yours super sweet, go crazy.
4. Add a cup of almond milk, replace the lid, and shake it all up so the oats are totally soaked!
5. Stick it in the fridge, say goodnight, and eat it in the morning!

If you want to go nuts, you can add cinnamon or peanut butter or anything else. But I'm not that crazy yet ;)
