5 months ago I gave birth to you, the most amazing, silliest, goofiest, and happiest boy I've ever met. I cried last night, and I cried today, and I'm sure I'll cry every other new month because you're growing up so fast and as fun as it is to see, it's also a little heartbreaking.
This month was a big one and suddenly you're capable of all these new things. You grab at everything, and I mean everything, that you see. If I'm on my phone, you're reaching for it (and if I let you have it, you proceed to put it in your mouth). You grab our faces now when we pick you up, you take the pacifier out of your mouth but haven't quite figured out how to put it in correctly which results in you just chewing on the strap. You grab at the dogs when they come up to you, Loosie tolerates it well and you take full advantage of it, grabbing onto her skin as tight as you can (and not letting go). She's never growled at you, but you have made her yip in pain. Nitro doesn't let you grab him quite yet, he just licks your extended hands which you don't seem to mind.
You're really funny and almost always have a smile on your face. You laugh when we laugh or when we make funny sounds. You also laugh when you see Loosie which is incredibly adorable and as much as your daddy and I don't love owning the dogs lately, you think they're hilarious and amazing so they're worth having around. You chew on everything and rock the amber necklace but there are no signs of teeth yet! I'm just waiting for them to appear, and then I'll cry because you'll have teeth and that's a big deal.
Your hair has grown in SO much and it's one of my favorite things. It's soft and fluffy and does it's own thing. People say you look like me but you've got your daddy's hair and eyes so you look a little like him too. You get excited when he comes home from work, your whole body starts wiggling and you have this hilarious loud exciting screech that you do which is absolutely perfect. You two have a special bond, you're calm and snuggly in his arms and you light up when he talks to you.
You still roll all the time, but you're happy on your belly now and spend lots of time just playing on it. You can sit for a few minutes without any help before toppling over and I'm sure you'll be sitting unassisted soon. I'm excited for that since you love to be able to see what's going on. We bought you a jumperoo for Christmas but gave it to you early (because how could we not) and you love it. You jump and laugh and it entertains you for a long while.
Lint from your socks can always be found between your toes and when we place you in the bath it surfaces. Speaking of baths, you love them. You and I bathe together since we don't have a bath for you and it's one of my favorite times. You get the biggest smile on your face when your daddy hands you off and we splash and play. You still sleep in our bed and I think you will for awhile to come. You're a good sleeper, and we don't get out of bed before 10am. Sometimes, more often than not, that means that you wake up at 9am and talk for an hour, but we're still snuggled up in bed and I love it. On Saturdays, when your daddy's home, you tend to sleep longer and we don't get out of bed until 11am. So far you tend to take after your sleep loving parents and we don't mind one bit. You're growing up fast, "talking" more, and becoming your own little person. It's incredible to watch and I'm so thankful I get to be your mama.
You're a dream come true David. I love you more than I ever could've imagined.
