Poppy TMI.

Oh hey! It's been....awhile. Life is crazy and I feel like I'm kind of in unknown territory. Eden is 13 months (how did that happen?!) and when David was her age, I was already pregnant again! This time around, I'm not and we're really sure what's next for our family. Maybe another baby in a few years, maybe not. In the meantime I'm learning how to be content and filled with joy in the present and just praying a lot about what God's got next for me!

So, why I'm writing right now would be good yeah? ;) Our fabulous photographer (Mel over at Sommessa Photography, which by the way if you're in Oregon you need her to do your photos, she's THE BEST) recently gave us a bunch of photos that she took last summer. There are some amazing photos of the kids which I'm definitely going to share later but there are also some super adorable photos of Poppy and those are what I'm sharing today!

BECAUSE oh my goodness do I have a story for you!

First, let's all appreciate what a tiny cute baby she was last summer and then prepare yourself for MAJOR TMI. Like, it's gross. You've been warned. Ha.

Are you dying? Yeah, me too. I can't believe she was ever so little! And on that note, Poppy girl is officially of age. Mhm, she went into heat yesterday.

Our morning was crazy busy. I had a chiropractic appointment in the city at 9am, David had an X-ray with the pediatric dentist back in the burbs at 10:50am. Between those two appointments we hit up the busiest Starbucks ever in which both of my children thought it best to lose their lovely little minds. And then we came home. It was about nap time, we'd been out of the house since 8am, and I was ready to sit my booty down.

So, we walk in and the scent of dog poop fills my nose. Oh no. Poppy pooped in the crate. Crap. I don't have time for thissssss is pretty much where my thoughts were. I texted Drex with the most lovely series of text messages, set the kids up, and then headed over to the crate ready for the mess I was sure would be greeting me. Except when I got there, there was no poop. It smelled, bad but no poop. That's weird I thought but I put her outside and let out a sigh of relief. It was then that I noticed her in her pooping position, walking around the yard. Now, this doesn't happen unless she's got poop stuck in her butt. Dog ownership man, glamorous am I right? So now I'm all great, I get to wipe her butt. This is fabulous. I head outside with a bag of wipes and prepare myself. Except there's no poop. No, instead there's blood in her lady parts.

Oh my gosh. My dog is on her period.

This time I frantically called Drex and had him head over to the store (and then home) to grab dog diapers. Meanwhile, I let her inside, stick her in the crate, and head upstairs to nap the kids. When I come back down I'm greeted with the most horrible thing. Dog vomit in the crate. But not any dog vomit, you see, she did poop in her crate it turns out. But then she ate it. And then she threw it up. And if reading this is grossing you out, imagine how I was feeling at this point. ;)

So basically that's how my life is right now. ;) Happy Friday people!

Eden is ONE

Today our girl is one. Yesterday we celebrated her with our tribe of people that we love so much. This past year has been the hardest but greatest year of my life. There were moments when I wasn't sure how we'd make it another day let alone until one, but here we are. Colic, dairy intolerances, nursing difficulties, postpartum depression, and torticollis all contributed to the hardness of those first few months. But together we made it through. She is so sweet and full of life. She lights up a room with her personality. She is adventurous and brave. I have always hoped to raise a passionate and strong daughter, what I didn't expect was that she'd be born that way. Her birth was healing and empowering and for that I am still so grateful. I loved her from the moment she was placed on my chest and that love for her has only grown. She is incredible. Words will never do her justice. Happy first birthday to our sweet baby girl!

Plants

This winter has been hard. I'd be lying if I said the dark, wet, gloomy days weren't getting to me. Maybe its the two kids one who hates the rain, the other who can't yet walk. Maybe it's the puppy who desperately wants to play outside but every time she does, comes back tracking mud all over the house. Maybe it's the postpartum depression. Maybe it's a combination of all of these things. Probably that. Regardless, it's been a hard winter and I'm ready for spring and sunshine and flowers and park dates. So far though spring is taking it's sweet time arriving, so I'm doing my best to will it along by filling our home with plants and all things floral. I figure if we're gonna be stuck inside, inside better be a pretty and happy place to be.

In a perfect world, each room would be clean and filled with greenery in a variety of pots. However if that was the case in our home, the greenery would quickly be brown and we all know rooms don't stay clean with two littles running around. So we're taking it slow with the plants and making an effort to keep the spaces that can stay clean, cleaned. So far I have yet to kill one so I'm calling it a win. Our hanging plant is my favorite and it's been on the brink of death many times but a little water brings it right back. My kinda plant ;)

Happy Tuesday!
